Description
The Blue-and-Yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna), also known as the Blue-and-Gold Macaw, is a member of the group of large Neotropical parrots known as macaws. It breeds in forest (especially varzea, but also in open sections of Terra Firme) and woodland of tropical South America from Trinidad and Venezuela south to Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. It extends slightly into Central America, where it is restricted to Panama. It is an endangered species in Trinidad, and is on the verge of being extirpated from Paraguay, but still remains widespread and fairly common in a large part of mainland South America.

Pete, Out of all of the great works I have seen in this CFC round this maybe my favorite so far. To be able to capture this bird in full flight with such amazing details is just tremendous. Love how all of the attention is given to the Macaw and the background has been blurred out just another thing that makes this photo so impressive. Excellent photo, voted, google and tweet promoted

One thing is for sure about a shot like this... It was not taken with a cheap camera or lens:) Great shot as usual Pete.
